Was it her Gay-ity, or her Veg-ity that disenfranchised her from her cow town community who until then had been proud to associate themselves with her notoriety? And I still listen to her music.
Good question, Glenn. The one biography I read claims that the vegity was the ‘straw that broke the camel’s back,’ and the reason given for taking the sign down, but that the town had been feeling uneasy about her recently coming out.

Hilde Festerling is the offspring of a particularly successful mated pair of a spectacularly successful species of Great Ape.
She is probably best known for her work exploring the secret passions of animals.
"I'll never forget the old days, the way it was at The Comedie Francais, circa 1842. Never." says Festerling. This being said she cannot seem to ever really find her hand props, Mrs. Houdini's wedding ring, nothing.
